Blai restaurant is a cozy Thai eatery tucked into a small strip mall on Canoga Avenue in Woodland Hills. It’s the kind of place where the friendly, hands-on owners create a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like more than just a customer—locals often mention brief chats with the owners, which adds a personal touch to the dining experience.

The interior is straightforward and spotless, with colorful Thai artwork punctuating the space and a unique modern twist evident in the robot servers that deliver plates to your table, blending tradition with a bit of playful tech. This combination keeps the vibe casual and approachable rather than formal or flashy.

Blai’s menu leans into classic Thai flavors while embracing some creative twists, making it suited for diners who appreciate authentic tastes but also enjoy a fresh take on familiar dishes. Expect vibrant plates loaded with fresh vegetables, herbs, and bold spices—highlighted in fan favorites like Drunken Noodles, Soft Shell Crab Salad, and the Yellow Curry Chicken. Their soups, particularly the Tom Kha with chicken, are often praised for their balance of sour, spicy, and creamy notes, standing out as flavorful and comforting choices.

This spot works well for everything from a casual weekday lunch to a relaxed weekend dinner where you want your food served hot and fresh right off the stove—something that repeat customers have noted as a consistent plus. Those who favor a bit of heat will find many dishes tailored with a spicy kick, and creative combinations such as the Thai Basil stir fry topped with a sunny-side egg add satisfying layers of texture and flavor.

Blai also draws visitors interested in a hybrid Thai-Southern experience, offering dishes like shrimp and grits or green curry shrimp that have impressed even folks familiar with Southern cuisine. This blend offers a niche appeal—ideal for local foodies open to cross-cultural flavors done well.

Service can feel a bit stretched during busy times, but staff remain attentive and welcoming, reinforcing the laid-back, unpretentious vibe. The restaurant’s size and setup mean it’s best to visit outside peak dinner hours if you’re aiming for a quieter, more leisurely meal.

Overall, Blai restaurant suits diners who want a flavorful, fresh take on Thai food in a small-scale, friendly setting where the owners’ personalities help make the meal feel like part of the neighborhood rhythm. It’s a spot that fits nicely into the Woodland Hills dining mix, especially for those who appreciate genuine hospitality alongside busy, colorful plates.

This has become my favorite Thai spot. It's a quaint little place and I love that! The owner is very personable and hands on. The food is Absolutely Amazing! I happen to like my food served HOT OFF the STOVE...and this place does that. Everything looks and taste so FRESH and colorful with fresh vegetables. The Tom Kha soup with chicken was hands down the BEST that I ever had, and I eat a lot of Thai. The Blai Sizzling Basil was Delicious! I love this place!

Everything we ate here was a 10/10. We’re from the south and have been disappointed with soul food in LA (especially from restaurants with pretty high ratings). But the green curry shrimp and grits and Mac and cheese? Outstanding. The drunken noodles were delicious as well. I noticed a theme with some of the lower star reviews when it addresses the food. Either they are looking for more traditional versions of dishes from a fusion restaurant (which doesn’t make sense) or they are looking for blander food and complain of over seasoning (which explains why the other, blander restaurants have been getting such high ratings.) Absolutely give this place a try. I will definitely be going back! Edit: I forgot to mention the cornbread and Thai float were amazing as well!

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The team was welcoming, the space was spotless, and the food was excellent. The owners were especially kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. The restaurant offers a modern twist on Thai cuisine, and the concept felt fun and unique; from the colorful artwork to the robot servers delivering dishes to the tables. My friends and I stopped by on a weekday evening and had a very pleasant experience overall. Everything from the food presentation to the staff’s professionalism was impressive. The owner was warm and engaging, taking time to interact with guests throughout the evening. The restaurant is located in a corporate business area alongside a few other dining spots, so it’s easy to imagine it getting quite busy during weekday lunch hours. When we visited, though, it was relatively quiet, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.

An influencer put me onto this restaurant and let me tell you I do not regret coming here. The food excellent. Service excellent though under staff, but you give them grace because the food is well worth it. My boyfriend and I came here this past weekend. I got the shrimp and grits. He got the pad Thai. We had a brief conversation with the owner who was super friendly and hospitable. Not only just to us, but he went to every table and spoke to everyone to make sure they were all enjoying themselves. You don’t get that type of attention and most restaurants nowadays. It felt personal and it felt like I was appreciated. The quality of the food is top-notch. The food wasn’t over seasoned i.e. not salty, which is something I am very cautious of when it comes to soul food. The one criticism I will say about my meal is that it was very cheesy, but this is just my personal taste. I don’t mind cheese in my grits, but not when I can’t enjoy the taste and mouthfeel of the grits. Overall, it was still good and worth trying. I enjoyed the music that played throughout the restaurant. Clean bathrooms! I will absolutely be coming back to this place. They have this gumbo that I desperately need to try before my New Year’s resolution kicks in. Who knew Thai food and soul food would make excellent bedmates. I cannot recommend this place enough. Everybody should come to this hidden gem located in Woodland Hills. There’s none other like it mind you this place can and will get crowded so prepare yourself for that

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was fantastic. I had the medium Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup, and both were packed with flavor. My wife loved her wonton soup. The owner made us laugh when my parents asked what was good, saying, “Why would I put it on the menu if it wasn’t good?” My mom is very picky and usually sends food back, but they made her a special Pad Thai without all the things that make Pad Thai so tasty, and it was still incredible. Highly recommend Blai for both the food and the warm, welcoming vibe.

The owner himself came to or table to see if everything was okay or if need anything. He share than he and his wife are the main chef. He was amazing. The art through the restaurant is just magnificent. The music they play is so amazing.

What an absolute hidden gem! As the old saying goes, the reviews do not lie. Tucked away in a quiet office park, this unassuming restaurant serves the best Thai food I have had, in Thailand or anywhere else. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable, and the service is impeccable. The Pad Thai was outstanding, the best I have ever had, and the Thai milk tea was the perfect finish. I will absolutely be back; thank you for a wonderful experience.
